Middleton Cheney is some 2 miles East of Junction 11 on M40. Facing the front of All Saints Church the route takes the lane to the left. Pass the right hand turn Rectory Lane. At the T-junction (opposite a house named Stoneleigh) turn right into Glovers Lane.

At the end of the lane the pathway crosses the main road and takes the unmade vehicle track to the right of the footpath sign passing between the gardens of domestic properties. After approximately 300 hundred yards the track becomes a footpath and ends at a kissing gate into grazing land.

Go L and go with hedge L, follow round field edge to find stile. Take stile and go ahead with hedge L to exit by stile to road.

(W4)
Cross road to drive and after 10 paces take stile R, signpost marked Footpath to Thenford.

(W5)
Follow field edge with fence and stream L to take ditch / bridge stile, and ahead to find mid fence corner stile. Take stile and go with field edge field corner with dilapidated stone barn. Take stile L to stone bridge. Cross bridge and go R with fence R to gateway.

Take gateway and go 1/2 L across field towards tree line to find field corner.

(W7)
At field corner go R with hedge L. At corner continue on same line across field (Aim for R of wood on skyline) to and through hedge gap.

Cross field corner to take small timber bridge, over a stream and turn L with hedge L to stile. Take stile and go 1/2 R across field to road.

(W9)
Cross road and stream and go diagonally R up field to top field corner gateway with track. Though gateway and follow round track, to pass bungalow R to farm driveway.

Follow driveway to road.

Cross road and take stile into field. Go with hedge R round field edge to exit by far R field gap. Go ahead over field to far R corner stile giving access to farm drive. Go L on drive to road. Cross road and take track marked bridle way towards farm.

Where track bears L to farm take stile by gate to go ahead with hedge R, under overhead power lines and pass spinney R to come to previous gate opening now only two isolated gate posts. Through opening and descend field to gate. Take gate, cross over disused railway to exit by gate and go with hedge L.

At end of hedge go ahead over field to gate. Take gate and go with hedge R. Continue over numerous fields maintaining this line. Initially hedge is R but after some while you join vehicle way with hedge L. Go for about 1 mile. Where vehicle way swings R by discarded vehicles continue ahead with hedge L to come to field end. Exit field by gap to road.

Go ahead on road, to come to junction with road from L. Continue round road R, cross over bridge, and after some 200 paces find stile L.

Take stile and go 1/2 R over field corner to find gate R into field. Take gate and go L with fence L to find gate. Take gate and go 1/2 L over field to mid fence stile, cross stream and stile to field.

Go ahead to isolated stile by hedge. Take stile and go ahead with hedge R to field corner gateway.

Chipping Warden to Priors Marston

Facing The Griffin public house in Chipping Warden. Go L to junction of roads. Go L on main road opposite (A361), with buildings R. Take first road R (Appletree Road). Follow road round L bend and after some 300 paces road swings R, take footpath on L side of road before bend.

Make way through buildings and passageway / alleyway with fence L, over stile, continue with fence L to stile. Take stile into spinney. Go through spinney to field. Ahead across centre of large field, aiming for house roof top to find and take fence stile adjacent to large oak tree. Go 1/2 L, pass dew pond R to find gate in L corner of field.

Take gate with fence R to mid fence stile and 2nd stile into field, continue with R fence / hedge R to find and take stile to R of gate to road. Turn R 20 paces on road, then go L take gate, and ahead to pass behind cattle sheds. Go with field edge L to end of field, R and L through gate, and go with hedge R.

At field end, before copse, turn R then L - go with copse L down hill through gateway, turn L, and then after 30 paces go R across field, keep previous line (to centre of far field edge) to find bridge over steam . Cross stream, continue ahead to L field edge, continue with hedge on L (Watch for gateway L approximately 3/4 way up field). Do not go through gateway, but turn immediately R at 90 degrees across field.

Turn R, over stream, go ahead with fence left to take gate before buildings. Cross field to top L corner gate by building. Turn R, go round field edge, take fence stile R - Turn L on vehicle drive way to road.

Cross over road and go ahead on lane between houses which becomes vehicle track - continue to end of track to footpath with fence either side, to road.

Go R on road for 1/2 mile into Upper Boddington to main road. Over main road to Frog Lane, go ahead round L bend and immediately take cycle track R to road.

Turn L on road. At end of houses pass through gateway and after some 30 paces take stile R. (Ordnance Survey mapping amendment - Follow text instructions shown in italic) - Go with hedge R over bridge to R field corner stile. Take stile and go with hedge R, take stile over bridge / stream then ahead 1/2 L across field to hedge gap with bridge. Take bridge, go ahead 1/4 L to find hedge gap with bridge, take bridge over ditch then go L with ditch L. At ditch end turn R with hedge L and after 50 paces, exit L by corner gap.

Go with hedge R to exit field by corner gap. Go up field valley ahead to gap in trees to find ditch bridge. Take bridge and go with spinney L, around field. At far hedge gap go L on bridleway with hedge R. At field end, go through gap in spinney, turn R and go with spinney R for short distance to field corner gap. Continue ahead with spinney R to exit by corner gap. Go ahead over field to mid fence gate, turn R, pass dew pond R through small gate and follow grassy corridor with hedges L and R. Corridor swings R leading to gate with hedge R. Continue ahead down through avenue of trees and fields to road.

Cross road, go ahead over field to L corner gate (R of buildings). Through gateway, pass in front of barn to driveway. Take stile immediately R, go 1/2 L across field to corner stile. Over stile, and second stile, and ahead with hedge and power lines L to corner gate. Take gate opposite and go 1/4 R, parallel with power lines, to mid fence gate, to farm driveway - turn R for 30 paces then L through gate along line of power lines to far side of field.

At far side of field (Do not go through gate) turn L and go with hedge R. Take stile out of field and after 120 paces take mid fence gate R through dip to kissing gate into paddock.

Go 1/4 L across paddock to exit by kissing gate. Ahead 1/2 L to take mid fence kissing gate and ahead on same to take corner field bridge over stream. Continue line but go to R of house and find stile L. Take stile to track / drive to road, turn R on road. At next junction turn L to come to Priors Marston War Memorial.

Priors Marston to Long Itchington

Priors Marston war memorial stands at the junction of a number of roads. Standing at the end of Hellidon Road, turn right, direction Napton, and then take the right hand fork for Lower Shuckburgh and Napton. Continue on Shuckburgh Road, passing a phone box, and the ends of School Lane and Vicarage Lane on your right.

After a further 100m, locate a pillar-box on the left. Immediately before the pillar-box, turn left and follow the waymark down a made up track, alongside Priors Hall. At the end of the track, cross the stile and bear 1/2 R to pass along the rear boundaries of houses to exit by stile.

Pass through two pony paddocks by stiles. On entering a larger field, cut across the near left hand corner, by stile, to reach timber bridge ditch crossing. Cross the ditch and bear 1/4 R. The next stile is visible beneath a line of trees.

Cross this stile, and go 1/2 L to find corner stile. Take stile and cross ditch / bridge, and go L on turf track bordered by line trees with hedge and ditch L.

After around 450m, pass through a steel gate and turn right following the way between lines of trees. The path climbs a shallow incline, and continue ahead.

The path descends, passing through two steel gates in quick succession. The second of these gates gives onto a field of pasture.

Maintain previous direction across the field towards the village of Napton just visible through the trees. On the far side of the field is a full width gate. Go through the gate, and head down to far right corner to find metal gate.

Take gate and go with hedge R for some 100 paces to take gate R. Go ahead with hedge L. You are no longer heading directly for Napton. Exit field by bottom left corner gap.

Continue ahead with the hedge L, to reach metal gate.

Pass through gate into another large field. Continue along the edge of this field with the fence immediately on your right. Notice a farm appearing, a few hundred metres off to the left. When you draw level with the farm, you will be at a gate which gives onto a minor road.

Take gate to road, go R, which is in effect continuing in the same direction as the path you have just left.

After around some 500m come to T junction, go ahead direction signed Napton / Stockton. Pass three cottages L (The Fens) and immediately take driveway Up driveway and go R behind garage with hedge R to come to stile. Take stile and go 1/4 R up centre of field to come to bridge in dip. Take bridge and go 1/2 L up field to exit by far L corner gate to road.

Go R on road over canal bridge and immediately L down onto canal. Go L under bridge and ahead with canal right - ahead is Napton on the Hill with its high set windmill. Follow down a flight of locks, and pass The Folly Inn on your left. Continue on the towpath. Skirt around Napton Hill on the towpath. At bridge 111 pass under the A425 Southam to Daventry road with the Bridge Inn on the left. Immediately after bridge take gap L to Bridge Inn.

Face Bridge Inn go L, exit by pub drive entrance, and go R on road after 20 paces cross stile R. Down gateway. Down grassy passage way into field and go with hedge L. Take corner stile and go with hedge L to field corner - go R 40 paces and take bridge and stile L. Go 1/4 L across field to hedge gap. Continue ahead pass mid field power pole. Maintain line to come to ditch / bridge gap to R of single tree. Go 1/2 R across field to L of two trees to find stile. Take stile and go with hedge R to end of field. Stay in field and go L for 30 paces to take gap R.

Go with high hedge R. At hedge corner continue same line ahead across field. Take mid fence bridge. Go 1/2 R to find stile some 50 paces in from corner. Take stile and go ahead across field to find metal gate. Take gate to vehicle track. Go ahead on track, pass cemetery to road, pass Stockton Parish Church to Barley Mow Pub. Face Barley Mow Pub go L pass school. At post box take road L, up Mount Pleasant, ignore side roads, come to grassy passageway with houses L, leading through spinney to field. Go L with hedge L to stile and road.

Cross road (A426) and take gap to go down steps to go with hedge L. Though corner gap continue with hedge L and fence R. Follow corridor over two bridges then through shrub, maintaining line. Leave woods, go ahead on grassy way with spinney L. Exit spinney and after 50 paces go R to find gap, take gap and go immediately L with hedge L. After some 70 paces take gap into woods to find stile. Take stile and ahead through woods, cross track and exit by metal kissing gate to lake. Go R with lake L to take gap into car park with drive way ahead leading to road. Go L on road pass Blue Lias Inn, over bridge and take gateway L to canal. Go R with canal L, pass Two Boats Inn and go ahead.

Pass under the A423 Banbury to Coventry road (Bridge 25), and immediately afterwards look out for a small brick-built cubicle next to the towpath. Turn R off the towpath at this point, and turn left past the cubicle to reach take kissing gate into paddock. Cross paddock, and take two further kissing gates on either side of a farm track. Go ahead over field to exit by kissing gate and ahead over field towards a modern white house in the distance with a distinctive rear projection and find kissing gate.

Take corner kissing gate, and turn L to follow a made up lane serving private houses.

In a few hundred metres, this lane (Thorn Way) gives into an open area known as The Square, with The Harvester Inn on the right. Turn left down the village road to find Holy Trinity Church.

Long Itchington to Cubbington

Face Holy Trinity Church and go R. Take Bascote Road L signposted 'Bascote'.

Cross bridge over river. In 70 mtrs turn R. Go down to cross stile into field. Go down centre of field with river R (Ignore stile L) and continue ahead with river R to take far mid fence kissing gate by river bridge, to small road.

Go R to cross road bridge and pass 30mph signs, follow road round to R to come to T junction, go on L on Short Lane and at end of first house garden take passage way L. At end of passage way take kissing gate and go 1/2 L across field to find metal gate by pumping station.

Take metal gate and go ahead with farm buildings R and fence R. Exit field by metal gate.

Ahead follow edge of field, keeping hedge on R to field corner. At field corner go L. In 200 paces take kissing gate R in hedge.

Go ahead, after some 110 paces carefully look for difficult to see waymark L. Take way mark into woods. Follow path through woods with river L to come to tubular bridge over river. Cross bridge and turn L. In 20 paces go through metal gate, over disused railway line, to find kissing gate.

Take gate and go L. Follow round field with hedge L for 60 paces to come to field corner. Stop. Go 3/4 R across field, under power lines to find mid hedge gap by telegraph pole. Take gap and go 1/2 L across field towards distant white house, find mid fence stile. Take stile and continue ahead maintaining line to exit by telegraph pole to road. Go R on road. Some 200 paces before white house take signed gate R on unclassified road. Go ahead on uphill field track, and exit by gate to track and lane to main road.

Cross road and ahead on tree lined lane, pass Snowford House L, and ahead on vehicle track, to eventually crossing high bridge over disused railway and coming to tarmac drive leading to road. Go R on road to cross roads. Go L on main road, and after some 100 metres look for stile in hedge on L (next to telegraph pole).

Cross stile, go 1/2 R to far corner and then R 50 mtrs to find bridge stile. Cross this stile and go ahead to find hedge gap. Through gap and go with hedge R to take stile into large field. Go ahead to find far hedge gap and road. Go L on road for some 10 mtrs to find road R.

Take road, pass Sunrise Cottage and enter old Hunningham, a pretty village. At end of road find church. Take kissing gate to R of church yard and go with fence L. At end of fence go ahead 1/2 L downhill to find kissing gate.

Take stile and go with River Learn on L, Go ahead (ignore stile R), cross down slope to water meadow. Cross meadow to take stile opposite Red Lion Pub to road.

Follow path ahead uphill to reach waymark at farm track. Turn R downhill and in 75 mtrs at hedge corner turn L, keeping hedge on R for 75 mtrs to find hedge gap giving access to metal and concrete bridge over stream. Cross bridge and continue ahead with hedge L.

Follow path to corner of field at wood and in 25 paces turn L to enter wood by hidden way-mark. Follow main path through wood as it swings R, continue through wood to exit on far side. Turn L and go with hedge L in direction of Cubbington village.

In comer of field cross tubular bridge. Turn L to follow path around field and up to houses. At houses turn left along allyway and in 150 mtrs reach Kings Head and Cubbington Church.

Cubbington to Leamington Spa

Face The King's Head pub at Cubbington. Go R downhill to junction with Church Lane. Cross ahead into High street, with Old Manor House on L.

Follow High Street into village centre, where it becomes Queen's Street. Continue ahead past shops and The Queen's Head pub to junction with Windmill Hill.

Turn L into Offchurch Road, and in 160 metres cross road R to kissing gate in hedge.

Take gate and follow well-trodden path uphill, with hedge on R. Note tower block on horizon. Proceed downhill to corner of field and turn R through hedge. Turn immediately L and cross field ahead to pick up concrete road. Continue uphill past house on L and barns on R to kissing-gate by cottage.

Go through kissing-gate and down the field to kissing gate at bottom R. Go through and turn immediately L to follow hedge on L with tower block on R.

At field corner, find hedge gap L. Take gap and then go R with hedge R. Follow path around field edge to come to wood R. At corner of wood (Runghills), turn sharp right over ditch. Continue ahead with wood on R. At corner of wood turn R with wood still on R..

At end of wood take gap R and go ahead with wood R to exit by corner gap. Go ahead across field, to find and take sleeper bridge, towards Redhouse Farm to find L corner field gap.

Take gap and ahead to drive. Go L on drive and after some 30 paces go R with fence L to take kissing gate into field. Go with hedge L at field corner go R and watch for hedge gap L. Take gap and cross ditch carefully by railway sleeper to enter Newbold Comyn Park.

Cross cinder path and go ahead with hedge R over golf course, pass 14th tee and then ahead over fairway to find wide hedge gap leading to well worn path. Go R on path and after some 150 paces note car parks L, at end of second car park leave path by 5 bar metal gate, through car park to metalled road. Go R on road, pass Paul Putz International Play area L and continue to Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre.

Leamington Spa to Kenilworth

Face side of Leisure Centre at Newbold Common, Leamington Spa on road. Go R, in the direction of Leamington, walk on wide tarmac footpath on L side of road, enjoying trees L, watch for Newbold Terrace East R as trees end and go 1/2 L across grass strip to walk with shrub / trees L. At corner enter into tree line and follow path L down to corner gap to find Willes Road.

Cross road and enter Jephson Gardens. Walk ahead through Gardens and exit opposite Royal Pumps Rooms.

Go L on road to pass over bridge and take first road R (Spencer Street) opposite All Saints Church.

Go L on Lower Avenue, pass under railway bridge to find junction of roads.

Go ahead on right hand side of Tachbrook Road. After some 50 yards, before bridge, find entry to tow path on R.

Go down onto towpath and turn R (Do not go under Bridge 41). After 2 miles go under Bridge 49 and immediately take path up to road.

Go L on road to large roundabout. Continue ahead 300 metres to find Woodloes Lane on left.

Just before second pylon, take path L to enter woods and follow well-defined pathway through woodland. Exit wood by metal gate and continue ahead with hedge on R (ignore signed path R onto golf course) to find wooden gate. Take gate and ahead to find kissing gate in corner of field, continue ahead towards wood. Some 80 yards before wood, after grassy bank, go 1/2 L down field to cross old stone bridge then ahead to kissing gate by lone tree. Take kissing gate and go ahead across field to exit by kissing gate to driveway.

Turn R and follow metalled road to junction with Rouncil Lane. Cross road to take metal gate, then 1/2 R to go with hedge R to follow field edge and exit by corner gap. Continue ahead with hedge R to exit by metal gate.

Go ahead with hedge R to end of field. Take metal gate and go ahead pass large farm on R (Oaks Farm) to find corner concrete bridge. Cross bridge ahead to find metal gate. Take gate and go ahead to field corner to find second metal gate.

Go L up field to gateway. Go ahead maintaining line, through mid hedge kissing gate and ahead across to find copse at field corner. Enter copse and exit by kissing gate to field. Go with hedge R to find kissing gate R. Take gate and go L across field towards houses to kissing gate to road.

Go R on road for 10 paces and take kissing gate L to field. Go with hedge L to field corner. Cross ditch bridge L. Go through small copse and ahead with hedge L. Through next copse and go down field to find mid field gap with ditch bridge. Cross bridge and go up field to hedge. Go L around field edge with hedge R to exit by field corner gap.

Go L up field to pass under power cables - watch for mid field waymark sign. At waymark sign go R in direction of houses to field corner. Go with hedge L pass houses.

Cross bridge and go ahead up field to find far L corner gate. Take gate and go ahead some 30 paces to find gate L and signed footpath. Through gate and follow round field edge with hedge R to find far R corner metal gate.

Take metal gate and bridge and go ahead to find hedge gap. Go through gap and go 1/4 L to find stile into copse. Through copse to find track. Go R on track which becomes road passing houses L to come to junction of roads. Immediately take gap L by power pole and go with hedge L to find stile leading to road. Go R on road passing church on L to come to T-junction.

Go L into the village of White Ladies Aston. Pass stone wall R, road bends R and after some 60 paces take gap R. Ahead with red brick R to spinney. Follow path through spinney and after passing through avenue of trees path turns R into field. Go L with hedge and woods L. At field corner go R and after some 20 paces take stile into garden, cross garden and exit by stile into paddock. Exit paddock by fence. Go L to kissing gate (Do not take kissing, do not exit field) Turn back to kissing gate go 3/4 L to pass field corner to take kissing gate to road.

Go right on road after some 250 paces take gate L into narrow field, Go diagonally half way down field to find gate R. Take gate and go into field. Go diagonally to far corner field stile leading to road.

Cross road and take kissing gate. Go ahead to pass to L of horse area to take mid hedge kissing gate / bridge into field. Go ahead, parallel with power cables, to find hedge gap. Take gap and ahead with hedge L to exit by field corner. Continue to follow track with buildings L. Main track turns L but continue ahead under power cables then turn L to come to gap by power pole leading to drive by red building (Kit Kitchens). Go L on drive to road.

Cross road and ahead on bridleway after some 25 paces take signed path 1/2 R up though orchard to come to gap in line of trees. Take gap and ahead down field to find and take brick bridge to gate. Go through gate across field strip to go under railway bridge.

Stoulton to Pershore

Face St Edmund Church at Stoulton. Go R down road to the B4084. Turn L and then first R to HAWBRIDGE. Pass Bird Pub and after some 100 yards take bridleway R, over stream, and take rough track L to field.

Go ahead over field to lone tree. At lone tree go 1/4 R to find footbridge over ditch. Go over bridge, through undergrowth and ahead with hedge on L. By wood bear R and L round corner of wood. Continue with wood on L for 100 yards. Exit field by stile, and ahead with wood L to exit next field by stile. Continue ahead in large field with woods L to field corner, do not exit field, but continue around field edge to pass to rear of houses, to find stile to road.

Go R on road for some 150 yards and take stile L to path. Go with hedge L through fields to road.

On road go L and enter Wadborough (telephone box at first road on left) Pass the Masons Arms Pub.

Enter Tyddesley wood and go up bridal path, through wood, across a logging road to gate and stile. Take gate and ahead on grassy way between light fencing, leading into vehicle way. Continue ahead on vehicle way to find gap R in fencing. Take gap and ahead on fence lined grassy track to take gate to L of a black and white thatched cottage, (Woodman's Cottage).

Go down the lane to the main Pershore - Upton road. Cross road and turn right. At the end of the Garden Centre take the footpath L and make way down to river Avon.

Turn L at river and follow bank upstream to Pershore Bridge. Take steps, turn L on main road (B4084) and after some 50 paces go R to re cross Avon on old bridge to find car park and Picnic site.
